Mosquito Repellent Study Says Lemon Eucalyptus Oil As Effective As DEET

A new study on mosquito repellent says Skin So Soft DOES NOT WORK. Like duh. But Victoria's Secret Bombshell does? Weird. I don't think that's a good fragrance for me though. Organic repellents don't last more than a few minutes. Those dumbass patches actually ATTRACT mosquitoes. As if. And most surprisingly, lemon eucalyptus works about as well as DEET.

I've always been a big fan of DEET. Sure, it might make you grow three heads with long-term use, but that's still unquestionably preferable to contracting West Nile virus or Lyme disease. But given these results, I'm probably going to try the lemon eucalyptus. HOWEVER, it's important to keep in mind that eucalyptus isn't necessarily safe just because it's a plant extract. Eucalyptus oil is a possible carcinogen and its toxicity is still unknown. Still, those risks seem WAY more acceptable than the risk of contracting west nile virus or malaria IMO.
